I have two Toshiba's now, an i5 and i7 and right out of the box they're quite slow.

Now for someone who isn't tech savvy I wouldn't recommend them unless you pay the retailer you bought it from the $80.00-$100.00 to remove all of the worthless apps for you. Moreover you have the tedious task of getting rid of the files, folders and registry entries that the uninstallers always leave behind.Īside from that, I've owned quite a few Toshiba laptops and consider them a top contender in laptop manufacturers with a very solid product. You dislike Toshiba's because of the bloatware they install? I agree that it is time consuming and frustrating to get rid of the preinstalled applications that they come with. Or maybe they are in a folder on your laptop now? Maybe a laptop keyboard would be different?Īs far as the "media keys" you may need some kind of driver or software that Toshiba should have on there web site.īut the "media keys" may still work with out the software they just may not have that in my opinion annoying onscreen display when you press a "media key" I don't see why you would need drivers for the backlit keyboard to work.Īnd I say this becasue I have a backlit keyboard for my desktop PC and I don't use any driver for it. So my question is this: If I do a fresh install of Win7 will it download the appropriate drivers for the backlit keyboard and 'media buttons'? I have looked on Toshiba's website and cannot find any driver related to the keyboard or media button functions. The problem is one of the reasons my wife chose this laptop is because of the backlit keyboard. So instead of going through the hassle of deleting all of these programs manually, I have a retail copy of Win7 and just want to do a fresh install. Then I notice in msconfig that there are approximately 15 programs running that are related to 'Toshiba utilities', which most are worthless bloatware in my experience. So here's the deal, I just bought my wife a new laptop (Toshiba Satellite i5) and right out of the box it runs rather slow.
